Professor Dr. Karolin Kirschenmann has joined Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as Professor of Economics with a specialization in Empirical Banking. Her joint appointment with ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim was made within the framework of the Leibniz Professorship Program of the Leibniz Association. At ZEW, she continues to serve as Deputy Head of the Research Department “Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets.”
Professor Kirschenmann’s research explores the transmission of financial crises through global banking networks, saver behavior in times of uncertainty, and the role of banks in financing a carbon-neutral economy. Her work has been published in leading journals such as Review of Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
